WICG Best Practices

I’ve been thinking it might be nice to have a list of “tips and tricks” regarding getting the most out of the web standards community (in the same vein as when I proposed a concrete visualization of the relationships between various standards/bodies), especially regarding things you can do here on Discourse.

(I originally had a numbered list here: I’ve since moved it to a series of headings and sections in https://github.com/stuartpb/wicg-best-practices/blob/master/discourse.md, and am keeping it up-to-date and edited for content at its new home on GitHub.)

I’ve also got my own (slightly more rough and gonzo) thoughts on how to be effective when drafting actual specs at https://github.com/stuartpb/specs-laws.

Maybe we could have a repo for a doc like this on https://github.com/WICG, or a page in wicg.io?

Yup, sounds like a good idea. We could add it as part of the website repo and/or pin such a message at the top of the discourse page.

(Content of this post moved to the first item in the discourse.md file in the best-practices repo which is where it lives now)

I’ve copied the posts from this thread to GitHub - they still need a little editing, but it’s better than nothing, which is what’s been in that repo for the last month+.
