Daniel Morissette of OSGEO gave a presentation on the implementation of MapML in MapServer, OGR and GDAL, three foundational projects of open source geospatial technology which are widely used and implemented in many other parts of the open source geospatial software ecosystem.
MapML as implemented by these projects is designed to represent map tiles, images and vector features in a way that is a natural fit for browser technology, or at least that is the intention and objective.
Daniel’s presentation highlights the interest that the geospatial community has in participating in the browser ecosystem, and the community would be very interested in browser developers’ views about the fitness for purpose of these offerings from the browser developers POV.
A video of the presentation will be linked here when available.
