How to get emails for everything in this forum

Many of us may have become accustomed to mailing lists, and would like a similar workflow. To do this:

• Click on your avatar in the upper-right
• Click “Preferences”
• Scroll down to the “Email” section
• Check everything, including and especially “Receive email notifications and email digests even if you are active on the forum.”

For some reason this also emails you for posts you yourself make, which seems bad. Missing feature in Discourse, or is there a hidden toggle I missed?

Thanks for posting this. At this point, it’s the right place for it. However in the long run I think it’s probably best to unpin it and put that text in the welcome text for new users.

I opened a couple threads on Discourse meta about improving the mailing-list-replacement experience:

• Should not receive emails for your own messages
• Emails are not threaded in Outlook 2013

(I am especially curious if anyone else’s mail client fails to thread them. If so please chime in over on that thread.)
